Over the history of the franchise, some legendary netminders had stood between the pipes for the St. Louis Blues.
Future Hall of Famers Glenn Hall and Jacques Plante won the Vezina Trophy as the St. Louis goaltending tandem in 1968-69, the franchise’s second season of existence. Martin Brodeur and Grant Fuhr wore the Blue Note in the twilight of their Hall of Fame careers. Mike Liut was an NHL First All-Star Team selection in 1980-81 and the winningest NHL goaltender of the 1980s.
And up until Thursday, Liut was also the winningest netminder in Blues franchise history.
It might be an individual record, but it takes a whole team.

A 31-save 3-0 shutout victory over the New Jersey Devils was the 152nd win as St. Louis goalie for Jordan Binnington, moving him ahead of Liut into the top spot on the club’s all-time victory list.
"It's nice just to get it and to accomplish something like that," Binnington told NHL.com. "It's just a matter of being here long enough to get those wins and to compound those wins over time. I'm proud to be here and I'm proud to have that many wins.
“I'm proud of this for so many different reasons. I'm proud to be a Blue and play hard for this city."
Binnington backstopped the Blues to the Stanley Cup in 2018-19, the only Stanley Cup win in franchise history. Oddly enough, the man he was surpassing for the record is also Binnington’s agent.
From one legend to another...

Congratulations to Jordan Binnington on becoming our all-time wins leader. #stlblues pic.twitter.com/TgbH1OIiYk
“No one deserves this record more than you,” Liut said in a video post on the Blues feed on X, the social media site formerly known as Twitter. “You should be extremely proud of everything that you’ve accomplished with the Blues. Here’s to 200. Go get ‘em, kid.”
Binnington is among five active NHL netminders who are the all-time wins leader for their current club. That list includes Andrei Vasileveskiy of the Tampa Bay Lightning, Philipp Grubauer of the Seattle Kraken, Connor Hellebuyck of the Winnipeg Jets and Connon Ingram of the Utah Hockey Club.
